Kráneo was programmed and composed using LiSa X, a live sampler developed by STEIM studios in Amsterdam. The process started recording Gamelan Gong’s, and then with Lisa, I transformed, gave shape and finally created new sounds. With this freshly created material I started to compose the piece having in mind the structure and the form. Once the piece was written I mapped all the sounds to a midi keyboard so it’s possible to play it live. Kráneo is inspired by the print of the Dutch artist Ludo van Dijken that was dedicated to me. The mood of the piece reflects the darkness and the contrast of the print. The form reflects the structure of the bones and how they are interlaced among each other.
